WONDER IN NATURE.
2022/2023 Adventures
During the summers of 2022 and 2023, WONDER organized a total of 11 trips for around 100 participants. These exciting adventures occurred in diverse locations spanning Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado, taking place from March to August. Participants enjoyed thrilling activities such as packrafting, whitewater rafting, climbing, canyoneering, horsepacking, and backpacking.

Packrafting
Green River, Utah | May 28-June 4, 2022
On this trip, participants got an introduction into river travel on a packraft. Participants spent the bulk of their time on the river, taking a leisurely paddle through Utah’s Labyrinth Canyon. Each night they camped on a beach and spent the evening exploring side canyons, going on day hikes, and having conversations with each other around the fire.
Backpacking
Wind River Range | Wyoming
July 30-August 6 and August 6-14, 2022
The Wind River Range in Central Wyoming is a popular backpacking destination, famous for its soaring peaks, clear high alpine lakes, fly fishing and stargazing. On this trip, participants spent a week hiking five to seven miles a day deep into untouched remote wilderness, simultaneously deepening their capacity for wonder in the presence of breathtaking vistas!
Multi-Adventure
Wind River Range, Wyoming | August 6 - August 13, 2022
The multi adventure trip in Wyoming consisted in 1 day of canoeing at Lake Louis in the Shoshone National Forest, one day of rock climbing at the Sinks Canyon, a premier climbing destination and four days of backpacking loop starting at the Big Sandy trail (Wind River Range, WY).
Horsepacking
Cody, Wyoming | August 13-20, 2022
Participants joined ranchers, professional horse trainers and horsemanship instructors for a week of training on horsemanship and western riding. After a 2 day training and packing, they embarked on a four-day, three-night horseback riding trip into the Absaroka Range in Wyoming near Yellowstone National Park.
WONDER Leaders Trip
Moab, Utah | March 12-March 17, 2023
As a component of the WONDER Leadership Program (WLP), chosen participants embark on a week-long journey to explore the fundamental principles of WONDER: beauty, openness, freedom, and the reconnection with their humanity through immersion in God's creation. Throughout this experience, participants acquire both leadership and technical skills, enhancing their personal and professional development.
Packrafting
Green River, Utah | May 21-27, 2023
During this journey, students currently enrolled in the Transformational Leaders Program at the University of Notre Dame were introduced to river travel using packrafts. The majority of their time was spent on the river, where they enjoyed a relaxed paddle through Utah's picturesque Labyrinth Canyon and engaged in two days of canyoneering. Each evening, they set up camp on a sandy beach, fostering meaningful conversations about their shared experiences.
Multi-Adventure
Buena Vista, Colorado | June 4- June 10, 2023
Participants embarked on a week-long adventure exploring the stunning Colorado Rockies! This exciting trip features a full day of expert-guided outdoor rock climbing, as well as a thrilling day of whitewater rafting on the renowned Arkansas River in Buena Vista, Colorado.

A group of incoming freshmen from the Transformational Leaders Program at the University of Notre Dame embarked on an exhilarating week-long multi-adventure expedition in Wyoming. This adventure included a day of rock climbing at the captivating Sinks Canyon and four days of awe-inspiring backpacking in the majestic Wind River Range.

The multi-adventure expedition in Wyoming for the Merit scholars of the Institute of Latino Studies at the University of Notre Dame included a day of canoeing at Lake Louis in the Shoshone National Forest, a day of rock climbing at the renowned Sinks Canyon (a premier climbing destination), and a three-day backpacking loop adventure in the breathtaking Wind River Range.
